Driving Transparency and Impact: MANN+HUMMEL Sustainability Reporting

Annual Design partners with MANN+HUMMEL, a global leader in filtration technology, to develop their comprehensive and data-driven Sustainability Reports.

Our goal was to transform complex environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance data into a highly readable, credible, and visually impactful corporate publication that meets the highest international disclosure standards.

Scope of Work: Compliance, Creativity, and Quality Assurance

Our end-to-end support for the Mann+Hummel Sustainability Report covered all phases from compliance structure to final digital delivery.

GRI Alignment and Reporting Structure

We provided expert consultancy to ensure the report achieved full alignment with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards. This involved:

Reviewing and structuring content according to the latest GRI topic standards and disclosure requirements.
Ensuring narrative consistency between quantitative data sections and qualitative case studies.
Laying the groundwork for future regulatory compliance, including readiness for the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).

Corporate Reporting Design and Data Visualization

We crafted a professional and brand-aligned layout specifically designed for a formal ESG reporting document, not a marketing brochure. Key design deliverables included:

Development of a cohesive 80+ page layout, including cover, sectional dividers, and detailed indices.
Creation of custom data visualizations and infographics to clearly communicate complex performance metrics (e.g., CO2 reduction, water consumption, diversity targets).
Implementation of accessible design principles for enhanced readability.

Editorial and Quality Control

Our specialized editorial team provided rigorous quality assurance to protect the integrity of the disclosure:

Comprehensive copyediting and proofreading in English (and German) to guarantee grammatical perfection and professional tone.
Critical review of all text for sustainability literacy, ensuring accurate use of technical ESG terminology.
Narrative development to build a compelling and consistent sustainability story around Mann+Hummel’s strategy and achievements.

Final Deliverables and Digital Handoff

The project culminated in the delivery of all assets required for professional distribution and internal editing:

Creation of the final, high-resolution, print-ready and web-optimized PDF document.
Delivery of the fully packaged InDesign source files for archiving.
Provision of an editable digital version (such as a structured, unflattened PDF or a Canva template) to enable seamless internal updates by the Mann+Hummel team.

Through this collaborative process, Mann+Hummel successfully published a transparent, compliant, and highly credible Sustainability Report, reinforcing their position as a responsible global industry leader.
